Rode Voltron a few months ago- what an amazing ride. Very unique and intense ride, and the queue (like all the queues in Europa Park) had outstanding theming- definitely worth a wait imo

I road this ride a few times as a sub 11 y/o and dont remember it being particularly brutal, I just remember it being awesome. My dad, who is not a complainer, did say that it beat him up, so I'm sure it was actually too rough.

Correct, the down times occur often due to bolt shearing - its inspected throughout the day and cameras are in place constantly monitoring problem areas so it's safe in the stance that, to this point, immediate danger is caught and corrected before anyone gets hurt, but... this is the one ride I don't let me family ride ✌️

As employees, we were all well aware of the issues at the time and internally referred to it as "Rip, Ride DEATHRocket" ! LOL Joking aside, we knew it was safe only because tech services made everyone well aware of the extra work, time, and money this thing was costing us!

I worked in Operations at Universal from 2004 to 2017 and truly enjoyed this video! Well done and researched. They coasters location was also selected for it's second gate entrance into the Studios. One of the initial concepts ideas, was that the coaster was to remain open after park close (being that at the time, studios closed at 8p more than 150 nights a year)and operate as a separate ticket attraction as part of the CityWalk offerings during non park hours. Having the gate behind hard rock would have facilitiated this, and also explains why the coaster layout does extend pretty close to city walk to create kinetic energy. The lights on the coaster at night was also to be a draw for guests to want to ride at night while the rest of the park could close and they would still collect revenue from sales. But that never happened. I had a couple friends in tech services that truly suffered some PTSD during the onboarding of this ride through the extended closure due to the "recall" on the trains. Couple other things that were hearsay stories from my techies were a couple of cracked concrete foundations from improper psi concrete pour in at leaste one of the foundations. Also, as you know bolts are torqued to certain specs and marked with the glue/dye marks so they can easily be inspected for any untorqueing and metal fatigue. The maintenance schedule for trach walks and bolt checks was accellerated exponentially because during inspections at random and any given point, they would find bolts loosened by as much as a quarter turn! I have to give Universal credit for the amount of work they have put into keep the coaster in operation, but like you said, the experiences is less than stellar and NOT memorable at all and I'm not sure why they haven't just shut it down and painted it go away grey to hide it!

Bro back in 2007 or 2009 I rode kingda ka . I was 15 years old when I got on that thing. Literally at the end of the night none the less. I went to great adventure tha day cause my best friend in those days had a sister who worked in the park. So that morning I met him at his house , his sister was driving and on the way there we picked up his sisters friend. Cause she also worked in the park. We got free food and drinks that day free entrance . It was great , I remembered the day randomly now after being reminded of this story. I also remember running into a friend of my best friend and I at nitro that day. We couldn't believe our eyes , we were ecstatic. I was little bummed he didn't wanna tag along cause he was with his girlfriend yet we would always chill the 3 of us back home. So after that nitro experience we went on all the coasters that day and even stopped in at my beasties sisters food cart there and we got some free pizza n fries an drinks. Then we went on the rest the day having so much fun it became a blur and day soon became night. So me and my buddy go man the parks gonna close soon what ride are we gonna go on ? We both were like man we went to attempt kingda ka whe the park first opened up . Only to find the wait was over 2 hours. We were like na first coasters gonna be nitro f that. Well come back to kingda ka whe the line gets smaller. It was around maybe close to 9pm when we got on the line for kingda ka. Dude we didn't get into the ride cart until 1020pm . Almost 2 hours wait time whe the park was basically closed. We didn't get home that day until nearly midnight. We left our hometown around 7am 8am . Literally spent all dam day at great adventure. I realized any time I went to great adventure I was there literally all day. Only 1 time I went where I didn't stay all day. ThAt was in a middle school class trip. So in those days kingda ka was like Literally brand brand spanking new. I remember waiting for the dueling wooden coasters that they removed later on in life. While waiting for that woody I was looking over the tree tops and seen kingda ka in a test run with numerous roll backs. I was scared just watching the roll back. YEt after that day in middle school seeing that I knew a roll back is actually really freakin cool . See cause if you ever ride kingda ka and it doesn't launch at the proper launch speed and u get a roll back that means you'll get to ride it 2 times in 1 run. So that's actually cool. I need a freakin great adventure day bad ma bro.

I visited Germany a few days ago, and got to ride this beauty. It is MUST RIDE. That first launch was heart pounding and the air time during the inversions was intense. Was a bit sad that we had to stall for a minute right before the backwards launch. Took some momentum away. But it didn't take away from the experience. Europa Park's loading times are insanely fast. As a single rider, I didn't wait longer than 20 minutes for most of the coasters. (About 30ish for Voltron, as the trains stopped for a few minutes.) For Blue Fire, I think I waited 5 minutes? (Granted, I went on a weekday.) Considering the park closed at an early 6pm that day, it's pretty amazing that I got to do almost all of the coasters with no problem. (I skipped Pegasus, Alpenexpress, and the water rides.) Put this park and coaster on your list!

I was on the SOB/GUN crew in 04-05-06. We would ride all the time when there was an available seat, and we had an extra on the floor. We would ride it every morning as "test ride" was part of the start up procedure. lol I rode that ride hundreds of times. This probably explains the way I am now haha. I knew the best seat to sit in though, and I knew that coaster so well I knew where to brace myself. I know it was hated by many, but it will always have a special place in my heart.

I went on the voyage for the first time a few days ago! I probably would have really enjoyed it if it weren't for the fact that I had drank 6 cups of rootbeer before getting on the ride ToT (would not recommend. Do not drink 6 cups of rootbeer before getting on the voyage and a cup of water literally right before you get on.) WOO the voyage was CRAZY! I haven't been on any other wooden coaster so it's hard for me to imagine the voyage as "smooth". It was insanely long! I was holding on for dear life on that first drop (the voyage was the second ReAl roller coaster I have probably ever ridden). Would totally recommend! Riding the voyage makes every other roller coaster at Holiday World seem less. . . "scary"

I live in MA and used to go to 6 Flags regularly. The new t-bars were fine. You are making a big deal of nothing in term of them being less comfortable. I think the problem was that 6 flags didn't explain to the general public/visitor what went wrong and what was done to fix it. So people were nervous about the ride. People in the area thought they renamed it because it killed a person and was trying to get rid of the bad publicity.
